Rescue project after an unsuccessful data migration from a legacy ecommmerce platform to Shopify
A well-known health and wellness brand KION migrated from a legacy Ecommerce platform to Shopify Plus. Most of the customer and financial data was not migrated properly. MTN Haus was brought in to help rectify the data and close the gaps in the migration process.
Financial reports, customer and product data did not line up
After migration from WooCommerce to Shopify Plus, all customer data, orders and reporting did not sync to historical numbers. Additionally, the third-party reporting software was not producing consistent data. The difference in the data model between the two platforms created additional challenges with data validation and migration errors. Inconsistent product data, inclucing product types, were addressed as well.
Compare product types between WooCommerce and Shopify Plus, introduce a new template to account for specifics of the brand products.
Manual review of failed data imports and group errors in categories and create a systematic solution for each group.
Build reports using two data sources - WooCommerce and Shopify - to identify the gaps and the root cause of migration flows. Update migration methods and reimport data using updated flows.
